SECOND WIND LIMITED ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Bird Lens mobile application (the "Application"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Application and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several different types of information for various purposes to provide and improve our service to you.
A. Personal Data
While using our Application, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). This may include:
- Email address (if you create an account)
- User-generated content, such as photos of birds, notes, and checklists you create.
B. Usage Data
We may also collect information that your device sends whenever you use our Application ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as your device's Internet Protocol address (e.g., IP address), device type, operating system version, the time and date of your use, and other diagnostic data.
C. Location Data
We may use and store information about your location if you give us permission to do so (“Location Data”). We use this data to provide features of our Application, such as identifying bird sightings near you and tagging your observations with a location.
D. Optional Analytics and Advertising Measurement on iOS
Starting with iOS version 1.1.6, Bird Lens requests your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before enabling Google Analytics for Firebase. If you allow tracking, Google may receive your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), app-instance identifiers, device and app information, and app interactions to measure app usage and the effectiveness of Bird Lens advertising. These identifiers and interactions may be linked for advertising measurement. We keep personalized advertising disabled.
If you decline, tracking is restricted, or you have not made a choice, this optional analytics collection remains disabled. Bird identification, account access, and subscriptions remain available. Operational data needed to provide those features and crash diagnostics are handled separately as described in this policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
SECOND WIND LIMITED uses the collected data for various purposes:
- To provide and maintain our Application
- To manage your account and your subscriptions
- To provide features such as location-based bird sightings
- To provide customer support
- To gather analysis or valuable information so that we can improve our Application
- To monitor the usage of our Application
- To detect, prevent and address technical issues
3. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with third-party service providers to facilitate our service, such as hosting services or analytics providers, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services on our behalf and under obligation not to disclose or use it for any other purpose.
When you authorize optional iOS tracking, the analytics and advertising-measurement information described above is shared with Google through Google Analytics for Firebase for those purposes. See Google's Privacy Policy for information about Google's handling of data.
4. Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you. You can also disable location services at any time through your device settings.
You can change your iOS tracking choice in Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Bird Lens checks the current authorization when you return to the app and disables optional analytics and advertising measurement when authorization is withdrawn. Declining tracking does not restrict the app's core features.
6. Security
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
7. Children's Privacy
Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your Children has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected Personal Data from children without verification of parental consent, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
